What If We Live Together, But Do Not Communicate? (Preposterous)
-------------------------
We wrote a poem that describes the hypothetical future in which we do not communicate anymore. Since we think this scenario is unlikely, it is our "preposterous future." Additionally, we think this future is undesirable, which explains the negative emotions the poem elicits. Finally, we tried to imagine what our world without communication would look like, and the thought of Neuralink quickly emerged.
-------------------------
Living in a world without communication,
Two distant strangers
Is it society’s decapitation?
It might create a lot of dangers.
You might solve environmental and financial
This co-housing is still not sustainable
In fact, the social cost is substantial.
We don't want to live in a world that is unexplainable.
Do we want everything through Neuralink?
Everything on a mere reflection?
Achieving what you want takes more than a blink.
We think society needs some imperfection.
WHAT IF WE NEVER LEFT THE BUILDING THAT HOUSES US?
Approximately 50 years down the road, following the beginning of a self-sustainable co-housing initiative in the Akkerwinde district of Capelle Aan den Ijssel, a beautiful 'underground' amalgam of ‘the young’ and ‘the old’ community in a redefined regenerative setting can be observed. 2070 witnesses the materialization of the 15 minutes ‘city idea’ into the ‘15 minutes building’. The concentration of the inhabitants into a multistoried biophilic infrastructure has improved the social wellbeing of the elderly and the economic wellbeing of the youth, while accelerating the positive environmental impact of co-existence. A significant fragment of both generations are never compelled to venture too far from their beloved home, as most of the basic and necessary amenities for livelihood are readily accessible. Shopping centers, parks, apothecaries, you name it! Little is left of social disruption as no fraction of ‘them’ remains in ‘us-us-them’. A renewed sense of duty is recognized and cherished. Greater understanding and appreciation for generational differences is established as a shared kitchen is transformed into a safe and pleasant haven for mirthful conversations, inter-generational societal references and amusing cross-cultural transactions. Boredom is scarcely ever heard of as this reformed co-housing space continually adapts itself to the economic, cultural and recreational needs of its age-diverse inhabitants by the provision of untouched areas to explore. Accordingly, a culture of strong social cohesion takes birth, accompanied by the expansion of the concept of sustainable co-living while engaging in new economic and entertainment pursuits. The meaningful and resourceful building shifts and so do our cultural reservations!
